Here is a new poem that Kelly wrote the other night after dinner. Can you guess what we had? Can you guess how Kelly feels about it?
The Re-Appearing Fish
It was supper time, I was ready to eat,
I walked over to the table and took my seat,
As I looked around to see what was to be ate,
Someone slapped a great big fish on my plate!
I recoiled in shock, fear and disgust.
A voice said, "You're going to eat it hold your nose if you must!"
So I sat there and ate it, bite after bite.
I didn't dare stop, I'd throw up, (what a sight!)
I ate and ate till the fish was diminished
I put down my fork and called out, "I'm finished!"
I first heard a snort, then "I should think not!"
I looked down and my eyes registered what my brain could not.
The great big fish it sat clean and new
Then the voice said, "You know what to do."
So reluctantly I turned back to my plate
and stared down at the fish I'd already ate!
The voice said, "I'm waiting!" so I picked up my fork
I ate each big piece, how I wished it was pork
So when I was finished and called out again,
The voice said, "What do you take me for, a hen?"
There sat the fish upon my plate,
The fish I had supposedly ate.
The cycle repeated like I knew it would do
Until the fish that I'd eaten numbered 182.
When yet another fish appeared on my plate
I wanted to stop but it was too late.
I'm full enough already I wanted to scream,
Then I woke up and realized it was all just a dream.
