O.k., so I'm having problems sleeping through the night. Actually, the problem is that I just haven't had the opportunity. Kenzie keeps waking up.
Most of the time she ends up wriggling out of her covers, getting cold, having bad dreams. Then when I go in to help her, sometimes she is so freaked out from her dream that she doesn't know who I am and it takes a couple of minutes for her to figure out that it's just me.
So, have any of you experienced this with your kids? Were you able to find a solution--if so what worked for you? I am interested in all ideas for the sake of finally (after about 10 years or so) of not sleeping through the night!

looks like a fun fun snow day! I can't believe how tall Kelly is! I'm so sorry about the sleep. I've never had this problem. Jo Jo occassionally still wakes up and I have to bring him in with us, but then I get no sleep because he pushes me out of the bed and sleeps on my pillow. I take Ambien now and it's wonderful. I sleep through the night and don't get up to pee 8 times and don't feel groggy in the morning like I did with over the counter sleep aids. I'm still able to wake up, though if I hear him at night. I'm not sure what to do about the night terrors. I always heard that you're not supposed to wake them up because it makes it worse (I don't know about younger babies though). Worth researching on the internet I think. I hope it gets better. I totally understand about not sleeping for 10 yrs. It's been wonderful these past 2 mths. actually getting a full night's rest.
Oh man. I am sorry for you and for Kenzie. That would just break my heart to see my baby have night terrors like that. Have you asked your doctor about it? Depending on the doctor I would be afraid to bring it up to some pediatricians I know since they are prescription happy with my kids. I would definitely take them to our iridologist/kinesiologist and she would probably prescribe an herbal tincture or something or shed some more light on the situation to help. Do you have any medical professionals that practice holistic medicine where you are? I have a neighbor that uses a lot of essential oils. I think lavender is a good one to use calm and center them. Just dilute the oil in some olive oil and rub it on their feet. I am not an expert so I would do research - maybe ask Emily. But it sounds like Kenzie is dealing with something that is causing the night terrors...maybe. Or maybe she just has a really good imagination? Your kids are really imaginative. Did you or Justin have these night terrors as babies?
Sorry if I seem all over the place. I feel for you guys and hope you are able to get the help you need!
I was having very similar problems with Luke and my dr. suggested tracking the times when he was waking up and finding the pattern. When we knew the pattern, she said to wake him up a half an hour before those times and it would help with the levels of sleep he was going into. Like always happens as soon as we took him to the dr, he stopped doing it so we never got to try it out but it may be worth trying. She said it was night terrors so you might try googling it and seeing what others say. I have also found with Luke it happens when he is going through growth spurts, so you may just have to wait it out. Hope it helps.
