Kate's Birthday At the Arboretum--Lots of Pictures! :)

HURRAY!!!!!
We Have Pictures!

Thanks to my wonderful husband who worked his magic on the computer I was easily able to upload these pictures--and yes there are many (o.k. and some are out of order, but they're here so I won't complain).  When I asked Kate what she wanted to do on her birthday, she requested that we go to the Arboretum.  I could not argue with that.  It is truly the most beautiful place in Dallas.  If any of you come to visit us just plan on taking a trip to the Arboretum!  The weather was perfect and we all had a great day!

Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl!!  You are wonderful and bring our family so much joy!  I'm grateful that you are part of our family!

While walking through this garden Kate decided that she wanted to "sun tan."  :)

The ride home.  I'm ecstatic to report that Kenzie slept throught the night last night!  The first time--ever.

Summer Proof Girl

I was driving around with the little girls the other day, (surprise, surprise).  Kate and I were having a conversation about when it's o.k. to wear swimming suits.  (I've had to hide her's ).  This was her thoughts on the whole thing.

"I'm not a winter-proof girl, I'm a summer-proof girl.  That's because I was born in California.  That's why I like summer and not winter."

Look At Me Mom!

This is what I get for trying to check e-mail and pay bills online while Kate is eating frozen blueberries!

Random Wierdness

Warning--this is a little gross.

As a parent most of us have been woken up in the night for one reason or another--bad dreams, peed beds, etc.  Well last night something happened to me that I had never prepared myself for.  Kate came in to tell me that her tummy hur.....blegh!  She threw up on my bed!  Gross I know!  I think the only other time I shot up so awake was when lightening struck so close to our house it tripped the alarm that wasn't even armed.

Needless to say, we cleaned up and moved on.  Poor little Kate was so upset-who wouldn't be?

O.k. onto lighter things.  Kevin is my absent minded professor.  For example He took his coat off and set it on the kitchen counter on top of an open yogurt container.  Then pulled it off to take it downstairs and put it away, spreading yogurt everywhere without even realizing it.  I came in to find the mess and asked him to go and get his coat.  So he runs downstairs literally two minutes after he had just taken it downstairs and he can't find it.  I hear him saying, "Where's my coat?!  Where's my coat?!"  Finally he found it and of course there was yogurt all over it.  But then in the next conversation you have with him he will launch into an in depth description about a new invention that he is coming up with.  Yesterday we were all in the car and he says, "I think I know of a way to make it so that men can fly.  They have to have wings though.  I think if you take some bird DNA and mix it into some food then you would grow wings.  You'd still have your hands though, too."  Where does he come up with this stuff??  :)

Kate says the funniest things

A few funny Kateism's:

Most of us remember: Pol-nailish for nail polish.

A couple of recent funnies:

"Mom, I'm allergic to air, because every time I breathe it makes me cough."
(she has a little cold these days).

"This day is such boring!"

"Guess why I like m & m's? Because the makers put chocolate in them!"

Have a great day!

Kate on my Mind

Kate is missing her good friend in Texas. She can't wait to go on a vacation to see her. She even has her bag all packed so that she will be ready at a moments notice. (We don't have anything planned, but you can't blame the girl for being prepared). The other day while we were driving around she was telling me about all of the things she had packed for her sleepover, she said, "...I can't wait to sleep over, because I am a sleep overish kind of girl." She made me smile. She is really good at making you smile.
p.s. These pictures are from July '08
