The Ever-elusive Family Picture

I'm grateful that I have a tripod--huge help for this project of mine!  However, I think that we will try again another day.  BTW, these are straight out of my point and shoot camera that I love, no creative editing.  Unfortunately there is just not a function that will fix closed eyes, talking during the picture, the neighbor's dog getting in on the act, or grumpy faces.  When I find the secret magic spell to great pictures I will let you know! :)

Very nice job Janet. There is a way to merge all of those pictures into one that has the best of everyone.. in photoshop. It can be tricky because the heads have to be in similar places so it doesn't look weird but for the most part it looks like you all stayed in the same spots. I can try to do it for you if you want.

Really...my kids are seriously sick of pictures right now so I totally wish I had the de-grumpifying face feature. I have to catch just candid ones of Owen lately. It is funny because he went from camera hog to camera hostile overnight.

So...I can't give any advice about the dog. But...something that I have found that works great with even the most unwilling of subjects, is to get them to laugh or growl (depending on what happens when they growl - Owen always smiles when he growls). Tell a joke and make the interaction as natural as possible. Do a silly faces one before a smiley faced one. It can be tricky with a tripod because you can't press the shutter button right when you get that perfect smile after a joke but it might help a little.

I wish I could come take pictures of you...if you would even want that, that is.

Jared wanted me to say that that is the best looking family waiting for the bus he has ever seen. :)

I love your hair. That length looks really cute on you. I love the candid shots. Years from now everyone will be laughing at the silly faces, or grumpy baby squirming, etc. I think you have at least one good one with everyone looking great!

The expressions on the kids are soo funny! I laugh everytime I see these pictures all together like this... Too bad you can't make it into a slide show.
