Weirdest (And a little Creepy)

This weekend we decided to "de-hoard" Kelly and Kevin's room.  It needed it...bad!  It basically took the entire day on Saturday.  We took out some shelves and re-organized.  It was a pain, but it was definitely worth it.  It looks so much better now and you can actually open their door the whole way now.  Anyhoo....At dinner we have a tradition where every night each person shares their, "best, worst, weirdest, and service," from that day.  Last night we all had the same weirdest.  Let me share it with you.  In the process of reorganizing I went into the attic to retrieve a few empty boxes.  As I was taking some off a stack I came across this little ditty.

Yes!  That is a dead snake!  That probably got stuck on the left-over packing tape.  And no, that is not just a common garden snake.  Eewww!  If you are not totally creeped out yet.  Maybe this next picture will get you there.  Why & how that snake got into our attic still haunts me, (not to mention the thought if this was in my attic what else is up there) *insert creeped out shivers*.  Well the how will always be a mystery but I think we figured out the why.  This snake was hunting.

Yes!  That is a dead gecko that also got stuck on the packing tape.  Ugh!  So gross!  Kevin was quick to point out that the snake had diamond shaped scales, indicative of poisonous snakes.  Great.  Now I feel completely at peace.  Since it's little and shriveled up dead, (thank goodness) it's hard to tell what kind it was.  If you can tell me what it was I might have a prize for you.  Actually we saved it so that I could show the students that I work with--so maybe I'll just send it to you!  Just kidding.  This was definitely the weirdest thing for me for about the whole year.

OMgosh!! Don't know what kind of snake it is but it's head doesn't look tooo tiangular so maybe it's not poisonous after all!! How cool to get the room organized though!!

Oh sick. I am so sorry. Luckily they stay up there in your attic right? And thank goodness he was hunting a harmless gecko and not a rat. Rats...now they are disgusting. Still...these pictures gave me the heebie geebies.

Scary and yuck! I hope it was just a fluke and that there are anymore lurking around. In fact, let's just tell ourselves that. I love your new background. And I'm so jealous that you fit in your wedding dress. Actually I might be able to fit in mine, but my bust wouldn't. ;) And you did look like a princess. :)

Janet,

That is the coolest thing ever!! Let me know if I can use those pictures in a ecological presentation. I am trying to estimate survival on fish and we try to think of all the ways fish could die. Some animals die in ways you would never expect! My best guess is that it is not venomous.
