4th of July Part Two

We tried to make it to the city parade the morning of the 4th.  Unfortunately by the time we got there we saw the last 5 minutes.  Oh well.  We were lucky enough to have my mother in town and since she'd never been there we walked around and explored some of the fun shops.  Here's Kenzie on the tractor in front of the Local Yocal enjoying a cool drinkable yogurt.  It was soooo hot!

Having had enough of the Texas heat, we headed over to the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science.  We enjoyed two very cool science shows--the first about Electricity and the second one called "Fire & Ice".

Kevin was thrilled when the presenter called him up to help demonstrate what happens to an aluminum ring when it's in contact with a strong electromagnet.  The ring--in the center of the picture--flew off and into the air and Kevin caught it on the way back down.

Sorry for the poor picture quality.  The kids were showing how electricity traveled over them from the plasma ball that Kelly is touching, to light up the flourescent light bulb that Kevin is holding.  Very cool.

The bubbles are always a favorite with the kids.

The new water feature for the little kids was open this time.  Kenzie loved, loved, loved playing here.

Kelly was chosen to help with a science experiment during the Fire and Ice show.  First she had to dance with 5 other kids to demonstrate how molecules would move inside a solid/liquid/gas.  It was awesome.  I got a great video of it and if I can ever get blogger to work smoothly I will try and post it soon.  Then she got to place two small magnesium strips into the torch and they lit up like sparklers.  It was pretty cool.

Around the corner from the water feature is a little dress-up station complete with curtained stage.  I caught this one of Kate just as she was saying "Don't take my picture Mom!"  Gotta love it!

We had a great day and were so glad that my Mom was here to spend the holiday with us.

Sorry I'm just catching up. It's been one of those times where I just don't feel like blogging. Anyway it's so fun to see all the cool stuff you guys are doing. We've been pretty lame with so much baseball. And Happy late Birthday to sweet little Kenzie. Give her a love for us.
